Hello, hello! We're still around, sort of.
A lot has happened in the last three months that contributed to the major blog silence. A house hunt, a baby and a move, and now a vacation in California with my family.
To back track a bit, the six weeks before Archie was born I was contracting pretty much all day every day, but never enough to get myself to a hospital. I was doing my best to stay calm and relaxed to keep him baking until he was term. On top of the normal stresses of being very pregnant and trying to not lift my 30lb toddler, our downstairs neighbors were being extra special and sending angry text messages to us about our two year old's noise. Right. A two year old makes noise at normal hours. I just... I can't.
On the evening of my birthday (31st, not 30th like I had previously thought. sheesh) we got a notice from the post office that we had missed an important document from our landlords. I had Ian call them right away because I knew something was wrong. They told him that they were having the whole duplex vacated to do some sound proofing. We had 60 days to be out. I was freaking out. I was very pregnant, contracting, and now we had to find a new place and coordinate a move. I was frantically texting friends, and emailing potential places. Place after place was rented, rented, rented. Things were either completely out of our price range, in sketchy neighborhoods, or just not a good fit for a growing family.
I woke up the next morning thinking it was all a nightmare. But, you know, it wasn't. In a moment of desperation, I reached out to one of Ian's aunts asking for prayers (amazing, holy woman she is). We needed clarity and a good outcome and peace. Long story short, by the end of that week we found ourselves set up to move into their old house. They moved into it when they had a toddler and a newborn. They added to their family while they lived there before moving to another house.
Three days after we met with them to finalize plans, Archie made his grand appearance earth side. My parents stayed with us for two weeks to help us make the initial transition to life with another new baby. A week after my parents left we were set up to move. The day before our scheduled moving-in day Archie came down with a high fever which led to a 48 hour hospital stay where I sat and nursed him and he got several rounds of antibiotics while Ian and our family and friends moved all of our belongings into the new place.
A few days after we moved into the new place and Archie and I were back home, my brother arrived from California to save us from drowning in boxes. So. Many. Boxes. It took many hands and several weeks but we are now (mostly) unpacked. We're currently visiting my parents in California and soaking up time with loved ones. It still makes me feel weepy when I think of the generosity of our family and friends during the last few months.
All that said, blogging has been on the back burner. But I'm hoping to get back into the game because I love stalking my fave bloggers, and I just wanna share, guys!
