Went to a magical birthday party for a magical little girl. My boys only gave one kid a bloody nose, so I’d say the party was a success.

2018: Victor calls pumpkins “spookies” but it sounds like “coooookies”

Attempted homemade noodles because it seemed easier than going to the grocery store and I’m trying to make our weekly chicken soup exciting so my kids will stop complaining about having it again. Yes. Again. These kids have it so good and they’re clueless. I am the #mexicandomesticgoddess of course 💁🏻‍♀️

The snuggliest little bug there ever was

My paternal grandmother had a thick braid of salt and pepper hair down to her waist. When we visited her, my dad would brush and braid the length of it before she went to bed, just as he did for me when I was a little girl. I have such fond memories of her and my thick unruly hair has been a piece if her that I carry with me. An inheritance of sorts. One year ago I put my hair straightener and brush away and I haven’t seen them since. This curly girl journey has been less about hair products and routines and more about self love and acceptance. I did a first big chop right before New Years, and another in April. Two weeks ago I had another big cut, and while it was more than I was anticipating and I shed an absurd amount of tears over it, it did provide me an opportunity to practice detachment. So here’s to loving me for me, and maybe someday I’ll also have the privilege of sporting a long salt and pepper braid.
