How did that happen?
Things have been busy in a very ordinary kind of way. As in, we're not doing big exciting things, but we've been very busy with the normal day to day stuff. After the crazy summer that turned our lives upside down, we're finally finding a rhythm. Our days consist of breakfast, play time/chores, nap time for the baby, more play time/chores, nap time for both kiddos, then we basically try and not fall apart until Ian gets home. We're getting really good at not falling apart as often.
I wasn't alone with both babies until Ian went back to work this fall (teacher perks = family perks). The transition had a very rocky start. I spent many days driving many hours in an attempt to get both boys to nap. It usually worked, and I usually ended up with a McFlurry. It's been a few weeks since I've had to do a car nap, and the angels are singing.
My friend Jen took some family photos for us last week, and I can't wait to see more. Here's a preview.
A few trips to the zoo.
We even went to a football game.
I'm also making an effort to do a little more self-care. Like coloring in my coloring book for grown-ups. Did you not know that's a thing? Have you been living under a rock?
I've been cooking more (which I love to do), sitting on the porch, and taking long baths when I can.
I'm also reading my good old historical fiction novels again. Currently working through a novel on Eleanor of Aquitaine, which always, always, always lands me on THIS page and I can spend hours on it.
And last, but not least, what's October without some needle work? These are the boys Halloween costumes. I've been making hats for friends left and right, and loving it.
To make this post just a little more all-over-the-place, I'll tell you about the pumpkin spice latte I got last week: I immediately regretted that decision.
Okay, I'm really hoping it won't be another month before I'm back on here again.
